August Highlights

As photographers, August for us is always going to be, quite frankly, crazy. But good crazy. Not like the state of our countries politics kind of crazy, more like... "Bloody hell that was good...bit knackered now though...fancy a gin?!" Basically, the best kind of crazy. And this year has been no exception!!

Frankie & Sam's Bedford Barns Wedding

Frankie & Sam tied the knot at the start of the month and we had the great honour of capturing their big day! Their ceremony took place in St Mary's Church in Bletchly, where they exchanged vows, had family readings followed by a confetti throw, all before heading off to their reception in a Bentley!

The reception was then held at Bedford Barns Hotel, a beautiful 13th century Tithe barn, located next to the Great River Ouse. A perfect spot for their laid back drinks reception whilst everyone soaked up the summer sun and a few cocktails, of course!

Boho Bride Feature

At the start of the month Victoria & Joe's beautiful wedding was featured in one of our favourite blogs, Boho Bride! They tied the knot at The Milling Barn last autumn and It was really exciting to see our gorgeous couple on the blog

You can see the full feature here....

Charlotte & Luke's Cambridge Wedding

Charlotte & Luke opted for a relaxed intimate city wedding by exchanging vows in Cambridgeshire Registry Office and then heading off to their wedding reception at The Architect, a cozy little pub on Castle Hill.

The newlyweds saved the cake cutting, speeches and first dance for their second ceremony, and instead opted to hold a pub quiz! Charlotte's brother had also made a beautiful video montage of family and friends congratulating them and wishing them luck and love in their new adventures together, so there was lots of laughter and happy tears all round whilst this was played on the pub tv screen.

Cara & Andrew's Hounslow Hall Tipi Wedding

Cara & Andrew tied the knot and had a wonderful time celebrating with their closest family and friends at Hounslow Hall Estate.

Cara & Andrew had a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake. After the ceremony they had a Tipi reception, run by the fabulous Tip Top Venues, and the guests were all treated to the most amazing spread of food. There were garden games for everyone to enjoy along with hay bales and blankets scattered around to relax on and watch the sun go down. The whole day had a really lovely relaxed, rustic chic vibe.

Clare & John's South Farm Wedding

We were back at the stunning South Farm again this month to capture the wedding of the lovely Clare & John!

The gardens of South Farm were looking absolutely gorgeous, with bright pops of colour in every direction and despite the weather being rain then sunshine then rain and then sunshine.....the couple were able to have the outdoor ceremony they dreamed of, hurrah!

During the wedding breakfast the guests were treated to an amazing performance by The Surprise Singers. They dazzled the guests and newlyweds with songs from The Greatest Showman and Les Mis and it so much fun to see the look of confusion and awe as people realised what was happening!

Jenni & Stefans Wedding at Lodge Farm

Lodge Farm is tucked away in the Hertfordshire countryside and with their gorgeous Tipi and beautiful gardens, it provides the perfect location for a laid back summer wedding! Jenni & Steff had their wedding reception there and It was a really fun, family oriented day with garden games (from the fabulous Elizabeth Dunn Events)

We we're blessed with amazing weather and an even more stunning golden hour when the sun set over the fields. Basically, the stuff photographers dreams are made of!!

And Our Adventures Inbetween....

At the start of the month we headed back home to Cornwall for a week, and writing about it now, more than a month later, it honestly feels like a lifetime ago! Going away as a family of 5 (6 including Moo!) means a whole lotta time is spent on snacks and answering the question "Are we nearly there yet?" Aprox 8 million times. But there were also lots of beautiful moments amidst the chaos... seeing our girls faces light up as we headed out to Seal Island on a boat trip....The moment they realised that if you drop a chip you'll immediately be surrounded by dozens of seagulls..... Hearing all three of them giggling as they conspired to play a trick on us (Impossible. We're both big kids and already know all the best tricks) and then, on the final night, finding them all sleeping and cuddled up together in bed after reading each other stories. Such beautiful moments and memories I'll cherish forever.

I also got to hang out with Cat Lane and Clare Tam-Im whilst I did a spot of second shooting for them. I had so much fun with both of these lovely, and equally very talented ladies. Axe throwing with Cat was super fun, we laughed loads, missing our targets most of the time but having a blast all the while. I don't think I'll be changing my day job any time soon though because it turns out that despite my ferocious "look at me with an axe" pose, I actually have a lousy throw!!

And I think I'll always look back on my road trip with Clare with fond memories! Hitting up the photobooth at the end of the night, before we spent the 4 hour drive home listening to punk and metal whilst signing at the top of our lungs, high from shooting an epic wedding, and consuming too much Red Bull and Haribo (post wedding, obviously!!)

We also did some work for the Big Issue where we got meet and photograph a local vendor for one of the magazines features. I won't mention names and locations (without trying to sound all 007) but the whole experience was incredibly humbling and definitely something I'd love to do again. The vendors companion was absolutely adorable, super affectionate and so clearly loved. I'ts also inspired me to think beyond what we do from a business point of view and I think once we hit a slightly quieter period I'd love to find a way for us to donate our services to a cause that we both feel passionate about. In the meantime, if you know of a worthy charity that would love to have us attend an event or donate our services to in order to raise money then please do get in touch, I'd love to hear from you!

This month we've also been prepping for a wedding fair, meeting lots of lovely 2020/21 couples as well as working our way through Julys Photo & Film edits. August, you were amazing!! I know I say it a lot on social media but I'm saying it again here.... A huge thank you to everyone who chooses us to hang out with them and document their weddings, it means everything to us and we appreciate all of you!
